Concert
AL JARDINE
of the
BEACH BOYS
presented by

|
The year was 1961 when friends AL JARDINE and MIKE LOVE decided to start a band and invited Mike’s cousins, the WILSON BROTHERS (BRIAN, CARL AND DENNIS) to join. They took the name the BEACH BOYS and the history of pop and rock and roll music changed in America.
The BEACH BOYS became the quintessential American band - a soundtrack to so many memories of music not only heard during the summertime but year-round. Their music became an American institutiona slice of America honouring simpler times, summer loves, classic cars and surfing.
AL JARDINE, the co-founder of the BEACH BOYS, is the most recognizable of all the original members. With his fantastic voice sounding better than ever, and his surf guitar strumming, Al brings that superb authenticity and vocal sound that was the very foundation of the BEACH BOYS' unique style.
AL JARDINE now tours with the Surf City Allstars who were formed in the early 80’s with the band members who were touring with both the BEACH BOYS and JAN & DEAN. They are the best surfin’ beach party band around, on par with their friends, the BEACH BOYS. When you hear the band, you get the authentic “SURF” sound and harmonies that were taught to the Allstars by BRIAN WILSON and MIKE LOVE of the BEACH BOYS and JAN BERRY of JAN & DEAN.
On Nov. 29, 2009, the BEACH BOYS’ 1965 Capitol Records single, ‘California Girls’, was named by the Recording Academy as one of its 2010 Grammy Hall of Fame Inductees. AL JARDINE is also a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and received a Lifetime Grammy in 2001 as a member of the BEACH BOYS.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada was started in 1954 and right from the start Firefighters were involved in volunteer fund-raising events. The Mississauga Firefighters continue to play a major role in MDAC both locally and nationally.
Erinoak, Serving Young People with Physical Disabilities, provides services to more than 2,000 children and young adults in Peel and Halton Regions. These young people are coping with the challenge of various chronic conditions. Over the years the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund has donated over $400,000 to support the programs and services offered at the Centre.
The Burn Care Research foundation was established to provide funding for burn research, treatment and facilities. Funds are available for research through application to the trustees who rely on a panel of medical doctors to advise on the worthiness and urgency of each application.
We continue to support both the Big Sisters/Big Brothers agencies in their efforts to find special people to match with the hundreds of little brothers & sisters needing a helping hand.
The Mississauga News Christmas Bureau Fund will provide more than 8,000 needy children and disadvantaged adults with the ingredients for a happier Christmas this year. All of the money donated to the Fund is re-routed to the communitynot a penny is spent on administrative or related costs.
As we head into another exciting year it is gratifying to look back and see the progress that the MFFA Benevolent Fund has made.
With your support we will continue to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
